A tree that travels across the country by car and stops at various places within cities. This moveable work of art by Hein van Duppen is about the necessity of greenery in public spaces, for example with regard to climate resilience, biodiversity and quality of life. The layout of the public space is under pressure, partly because the number of cars in the Netherlands has increased by 23% over the past 20 years. All these cars have a place in the public space, but every parking space is also a potential (growing) place for a tree.
On this website you can follow the journey of the Travelling Tree. Pictures and videos show its adventures. Experience a personal travel journal that shows what the impact and meaning can be of planting (extra) trees in public space.
