21.000 round windows

The history of WTC Rotterdam goes all the way back to 1598, the year in which the first ‘Rotterdamse Beurs’ was founded. The monumental building in the current World Trade Center was designed by architect J.F. Staal and was realised between 1936 and 1940. It was struck several times during the bombardment of Rotterdam on May 14th 1940, but could be repaired quite quickly. The green elliptical tower, designed by Rob van Erk and Ab Verbeek, was completed in 1986. It is actually a really large rooftop structure on top of the green, copper roof which features over 21,000 round windows.
